Laboratory mandate

Mission, scope, and evidence standard

The lab is independent. It examines financial models, market regimes, institutions, and investor decisions. The instruments are empirical tests, historical synthesis, mathematics, and reproducible code.

Mission

The lab investigates the reliability of quantitative evidence used in portfolio construction, pricing, and risk management, with particular attention to regime variation and institutional transmission.

Every conclusion is bounded. The lab publishes it with reproducible evidence, stated uncertainty, and a strict causal boundary.

Research domains

Portfolio construction, market risk, diversification, factor attribution, derivatives, numerical error, and the regimes that condition those relationships.

Research outputs

Empirical findings, numerical validation studies, analytical syntheses, historical frameworks, quantitative models, mathematical notes, and reproducible artifacts.

Evidence standard

Falsifiable claims, versioned data, theoretical anchors, uncertainty estimates, failure criteria, limitations, and public revisions.

Boundary

The site is educational. Frozen histories do not bound future markets. Illustrative inputs are not forecasts. Nothing here is investment advice.

Publication model

Each publication opens with its conclusion. Measured evidence, decision consequences, identification limits, mathematics, data, tests, and source artifacts follow. Depth is set by what the claim has to survive.

Scientific voice

Claims are stated impersonally and tested against criteria declared in advance. Supported, rejected, and revised results carry the same provenance. A reading holds only for the stated model, data vintage, test design, and estimated error.

Current corpus boundary

The published record distinguishes completed evidence from an expanding mandate

Executed work concentrates on numerical validation, portfolio construction, factors, derivatives, and market risk. Regime and institutional work is thinner: one historical framework, one empirical synthesis, and four registered studies. That is not a live classifier, probability model, or forecast of the present environment.

Regime research boundary

History supplies context; the test determines what survives

Economic, political, and institutional events enter the lab under one condition. Each must define a transmission mechanism, a measurable condition, or an explicit scenario. A historical episode is not causal evidence by itself. A compelling narrative cannot substitute for identification.

Lab measurement

Results generated by declared data, transformations, tests, uncertainty estimates, and source artifacts.

External empirical evidence

Measured relationships from named studies or datasets. They are judged separately from the lab's own measurement.

Institutional record

Dated decisions, releases, and official accounts. They establish chronology and stated action, not causality.

Interpretive synthesis

A bounded connection among measured results, external records, mechanisms, and decision consequences.

All conclusions are conditional on stated models, data vintages, and evaluation designs.
