Men’s club basketball
Western Colorado University · Co-founder & President · August 2023–May 2025
Western Colorado University had no men’s club basketball program. Kyle co-founded the first one and established the operating structure required for the organization to continue beyond his involvement. He led it while studying for the BA in Business Administration he earned there.
What building it took
- Founding
- Navigating university approval, club charters, insurance, and facility access to bring the program into legal and operational existence.
- Recruiting
- Building a roster from nothing: finding players, setting expectations, and creating a culture worth joining.
- Operations
- Practice schedules, game logistics, travel coordination, and the unglamorous administration that determines whether an organization functions.
- Budgeting
- Securing and allocating funds, pricing participation, and keeping the program solvent.
- Continuity
- The real test: structuring leadership, documentation, and succession so the program continued after Kyle graduated. It did.
